What a beautiful well equipped cottage in a fabulous location.

We have all loved our walks and also having shops, a train station and 2 pubs close by has also been a real bonus.

Had gorgeous weather all week and would recommend a trip through to Grizedale Forrest and Hawkshead-fabulous scenery, thank you – The Knight’s, Sunningdale, Berkshire

Lovely cottage and very well equipped with everything we needed. We really enjoyed our weekend as did Ellie our young excitable black Labrador. We’ve all really enjoyed our walks here.

We also very much enjoyed our meal and the hospitality at The Engine Inn (the nearest local pub-2 minutes’ walk away).

Will defiantly recommend the cottage to our friends and would definitely come back again. Thank you very much – Alison, Barry & Ellie our dog, Formby

We’ve had a lovely long weekend at Carree Cottage. The weather wasn’t great but it didn’t bother us.

The cottage had everything we needed and the recommendations from Simon were greatly appreciated and very useful-Higginson’s butchers in Grange-over-Sands and Cartmel Cheese shop are definitely worth a visit!

All in all, a lovely relaxing weekend, thanks – The Woolley family, Liverpool

A lovely cottage and spotlessly clean. We felt at home as soon as we arrived and the beds are very comfortable.

We were lucky to have a couple of sunny days and the seating area at the back of the garden was great!!

Would definitely come back-a little gem!!! – Lin & Ronnie, Crosby, Merseyside

The cottage is very well equipped and spotless. The beds are fab, so comfy and the bedding is lovely.

We enjoyed the local produce of eggs and sausage for breakfast from the local shop.

We visited Ducky’s Farm, the Beatrice Potter museum which was fab, went on the motor boats on Lake Windermere and fed the ducks and swans. A great long weekend! – The Daly Family, Cheshire

We felt very lucky! We prepared for rainy weather but got 5 days of sunshine! It was lovely walking weather. We went to Keswick, Coniston and Windermere for walks-beautiful!! The walks nearby are also lovely.

The cottage was very nice and we went to the Engine Inn (the local pub-2 minutes’ walk away) almost every day. It was very friendly and had good pub food. The people in the north of England are very friendly!! Thanks – The Waaijen Family, Echt, Netherlands

A real home from home. Great cottage, had everything we could need. Nice location to get around the Lake District. Great local pub with good food and friendly people.

We will defiantly come again. Thanks from us all for a great chilled out weekend – The Jones’, Fitzpatrick’s and Murray’s, Chester

Another fantastic holiday at Carree Cottage! We love it here! The cottage is one of the best equipped we have stayed in and always presented to a very high standard. The owners clearly care about their customers and we always feel really welcomed here which we think is fantastic and another reason we keep coming back.

Had a lovely day out in Grange-over-Sands. There was much more there than we expected. Jack recommends the walk to Hampsfell through Eggerslack Woods.

We always do the walk to Cartmel which is beautiful with lovely views. The Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding is a must (sold in the shop that made it famous-Cartmel Village Shop). The fish and chips from the fish & chip shop in Flookburgh (half a mile away) are yummy too!

We’ve had lovely weather, sunny and much warmer than back at home, but we still really enjoyed sitting by the real log fire in the cottage.

Thank you so much for another wonderful stay! – June, Kayleigh & Jack, Sunderland

What a fantastic 3 night stay in a beautiful and very well presented cottage!

We had some wonderful weather and all really enjoyed being able to eat our breakfast in the garden.

We recommend you definitely do the walk to Cartmel-much of it is paved or is a track though the woods and you get some wonderful views out across Morecambe Bay.

We also really enjoyed ‘Hooked’ fish restaurant in Windermere. Fantastic large portions and good value for money-just make sure you book in advance.

The promenade in Grange-over-Sands is also really lovely on a sunny day. Holker Hall, Garden and café are a must too! (Just a few hundred yards from the cottage in Cark-in-Cartmel)

We can’t wait to return, thanks – The Robinsons, Chichester, West Sussex

Thank you Simon. Lovely cottage, didn’t want to leave! However, all good things must come to an end, sadly!

The 2 local pubs are very welcoming for dog owners. Both pubs allow dogs inside so if the temperature drops their log fires are great instead of having to shiver outside just because you’ve got a dog! (Note from Simon-other parts of country that don’t allow dogs in pubs-please take note!).

The food in both of the village pubs was also really good. The Rose & Crown was taken over in February and the new landlord, landlady and staff are great!

For something different get a taxi to Cartmel (£6-8) and experience Rogan & Company restaurant-you’ll be amazed. The attention to detail and little extras are lovely. Last time we went was 3 years ago and it still very much worth its status as something ‘very special’.

Another good day out and for a zoo with a difference is the South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton-well worth the £12.50 each to get in.

Thank you once again Lake District, we look forward to coming back – The Smith Family, South Shields
