CARTMEL HILL, CARTMEL, CUMBRIA

 

Cartmel Hill is a stunning large country house located in a spectacular and very peaceful off-road location in the hills above Cartmel village.

The house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and sleeps 8 people. For an extra nightly charge a 5th bedroom can be used bringing the total number of guests to 10.

The house was bought in 2016 and was decorated throughout using heritage Farrow & Ball co-ordinating shades and then furnished to a very high standard.

HOT NEWS

Large summer house just added to the garden, complete with large wine/beer cooler/fridge, heating and cushioned chairs.

 

This traditional stone-built 18th barn conversion is the best holiday home in Cartmel and offers a very high standard of accommodation with spectacular views in a peaceful and beautiful location.

The quiet location is surrounded by meadows and woods and the easily accessible track that leads to the house is 200 yards off a dead-end road that travels from the centre of Cartmel Village.

The elevated setting of the house provides stunning views down the Cartmel Valley, across Morecambe Bay and out to sea.

 

SITTING ROOM

The house has a large sitting room with seating for 8 people, a roaring log fire, oak beams and a large Samsung flat screen LCD ‘Smart TV’.

This lovely light and airy room has 5 windows and is located on the 1st floor to make the most of the spectacular views on both sides of the sitting room.

Across the hallway is the large country style kitchen that is fully equipped with everything you’ll need for your luxury holiday.

THE KITCHEN

The shaker style kitchen was hand made by a local craftsman using high quality ‘pippy oak’ cupboards and very high quality granite worktops.

The large range cooker had 4 gas burners, a wok burner/flat plate and 2 ovens.

There are 2 fridges, a large freezer, large microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier.

The kitchen also has a table and 4 chairs and lots of oak beams.

The main dining room is located next to the kitchen through double glass doors that open out into the room.

The dining room has a large solid wood table, chairs for 8 people, a cast iron log fire and oak beams.

BEDROOMS

Around the corner from the kitchen and dining room is a long corridor where you will find 2 upstairs bedrooms, a large bathroom and further cloakroom with toilet and sink.

Both bedrooms have king-sized beds, French Doors opening out onto the sunny veranda and lots of oak beams.

The master bedroom is huge and has 2 huge French Doors and a large en-suite bath and shower room. This bathroom can also be accessed from the corridor for the other upstairs bedroom.

At the end of the corridor is another flight of stairs leading downstairs to the ground floor.

The ground floor has 2 further bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Just like upstairs, 1 of the bedrooms here is huge and has a king sized bed and an en-suite bath and shower room.

The 2nd bedroom on this floor has a super king sized bed that can be unzipped and made into 2 single beds (please let us know at the time of booking if this is your requirement).

This bedroom has a shower room and toilet right opposite.

At the far end of the corridor is the ‘games room’. This cosy room has a large flat screen TV and furniture to relax or plug in you games station away from the rest of the group. There’s also a huge beanbag for chilling out on.

The ground floor also hosts a 5th bedroom that but can be rented at an extra cost of £30 per night (this bedroom is locked and not used when not rented separately).

This bedroom has a double bed.

Please note that the dining room and sitting room seat 8 people althought there is 2nd dining table in the kitchen that seats 4 people.

The 5th bedroom is a supplementary bedroom for those that want to use it.

GARDENS AND PARKING

Cartmel Hill has 2 large garden areas. To the rear is a large lawned area only overlooked by the bedrooms, veranda and sitting room.

This large garden is totally enclosed and overlooks fields and woods with a spectacular views south down the Cartmel Valley and out to sea/the bay.

The garden has a large table and 8 chairs and is very peaceful and relaxing.

The front of the property has 2 large parking areas affording space for at least 8 cars, a large lawned area and natural Lakeland rocks, crags and wildflowers. There’s also a small stream that runs down the side of the driveway before disappearing underground.

 

Cartmel Hill is a very special place in a stunning and relaxing location.

This is somehwere where you can holiday in style, relax and unwind.

“Fabulous house”

What a fantastic house standing proudly overlooking the lovely village.

This was the second of Simons houses we’ve rented and once again it didn’t disappoint. Large comfortable airy rooms. Just right for three generations from 6 months to 64 years.

Spent half term holiday with a couple of visits to the races amongst several walks in the area. Our first races on Saturday started out in sunshine, lovely walk down from the house, a great time for half the afternoon, not quite the same return journey later in the pouring rain, racing cancelled. Good job we had our beautiful holiday home to return to.

Our second attempt on Wednesday proved much more rewarding weather wise.

“House of splendour”

Brilliant house, very relaxing, quiet and peaceful, surrounded by countryside.

Great for large family holidays and enough space if you need your own space. Recently added Summerhouse a wonderful bonus.

Central for trips to the Lakes or the coast and breathtaking scenery on walks in many directions.

Wish we could have stayed longer especially for the Cartmel Race meeting at the Bank Holiday weekend as it was only 15 mins walk down the lane and through the woods, (30 mins walk back up hill!).

The quality of everything was great, you could tell you have taken time to get it all just right.

The house worked really well in terms of the layout. The children loved the games room and thought the keyboard was great.

We absolutely dropped on with the weather but even when it went cooler the summer house was perfect.

I have recommended you to friends and we are also trying to work out plans to return next summer for a longer period.
