Had a lovely time in this warm and comfortable cottage.

The 2 local pubs, the Engine and the Rose & Crown are both very dog friendly.

Enjoyed evening walks to Sand Gate but Humphrey Head was our favourite (both located on Morecambe Bay) – Pete, Zoe & Gyp the dog, North Yorkshire

10th March 2014

As ever we had a great stay. Our friends had not stayed in Carree Cottage before and they really enjoyed it.

As you know the weather was superb and was great for our walking. We did all new walks and decided not to go to any of the “old haunts”. We went up Skiddaw for the first time and also Ill Bell and Grisedale Pike.

Cheers Simon, speak again soon – Steven, Karina & Friends, York

3rd February 2014

We stayed here 9 years ago and it’s been lovely to be back again.
Very relaxing week, lots of walks, log fires and a Sunday lunch at the Pig and Whistle in Cartmel is definitely worth a visit-excellent food! – Angela and Pete, Milton Keynes

15th January 2014

Happy New Year!

It was lovely to back to Carree Cottage again, it was just like coming home

We had a lovely time, a few walks and it was very relaxing. Even the weather was very kind to us too – Anthony and family, Chingford, London

3rd January 2014

Had a fantastic time in the cottage over New Year, it had everything we needed and was very well equipped.

Cark in Cartmel is a lovely village and we made a few trips to the Engine Inn (local pub-2 minutes’ walk).

Cartmel is just a short stroll away and we enjoyed the fresh air!

Thank you, we will definitely be returning – Lisa & Mathew, Wigan

Short but sweet and what a beautiful cottage!

Thank you for all the Christmassy décor! We have both enjoyed a wonderful short break here.

Although the weather hasn’t been too kind we still got out and about-to Windermere and Keswick and climbed a mountain along the way.

We’ve just had a lovely dinner at the Pheasant Inn tonight (2 miles away in the Cartmel Valley) and plan to do 1 of Simon’s recommended walks through Grange-over-Sands tomorrow.

An enchanting and magical cottage,

Of stone and beams,

Shall stay in our memories,

Set sturdy in our dreams,

Thank you Simon!! Laura & Patrick- Manchester

13th December 2013

We’ve had a lovely pre-Christmas break.

Lovely trips out to Grizedale, Grange-over-Sands, Windermere and Cartmel. Our pint at the Cavendish Arms in Cartmel went down well with the roaring log fire and we had a fabulous meal at the Engine! (the local pub just 2 minutes’ walk from the cottage)-we definitely recommend the local shrimps.

Thank you! – Rachel & Jared, Warrington, Cheshire

2nd December 2013

Wonderful cottage! So quaint and cosy and a lovely peaceful location.

We had dinner locally in Cark at the Engine Inn around the corner, nice pub grub, the Cavendish Arms in Cartmel, excellent food and busy atmosphere but quieter in the restaurant (make sure you book first though!) and then a longer drive to the Queens Head at Troutbeck-well worth it!

Cartmel village is wonderful also. We cycled there and back one morning. Coffee and cake at ‘Cartmel Coffee’ in the square was great too.

Fantastic long weekend at Carree Cottage, will definitely be back.

Thank you Simon for all your recommendations and tempting us this far south for a wonderful break and assisting us with such good advice on choosing a more peaceful village and location (we usually stay in Ambleside & Grasmere).

Keep up the good work – David & Madeline, Stirling, Scotland

1st November 2013

We have stayed at this cosy cottage for 4 nights. We have had a lovely time and all stayed warm and toasty despite the chilly weather.

We have walked around Grizedale Forrest and enjoyed shopping at Ambleside & Bowness (on Windermere).

We also visited Cartmel and sampled the sticky toffee pudding and had a fantastic meal at the Engine Inn (the local pub, just 2 minutes’ walk away in Cark in Cartmel).

We would definitely recommend this lovely cottage and its perfect location. Thank you for providing everything for us, it was all very welcoming and we really enjoyed it. Hopefully we will be back soon – The Donoghue Family, Hull

28th October 2013

Sadly we were only here for 2 nights this time due to work but we really loved our break here once again-thank you Simon. I love how you have thought of everything and its so clean and easy going-if only home was so well sorted!

We really enjoyed our walk to Cartmel and a great lunch at the Royal Oak-highly recommended with very attentive staff.

Brilliant! Would love to come back again, thank you so much – Jacqui & Family, Newcastle
