Cartmel Cheese shop has been voted 2nd best cheese shop in Britain by The Times.
It’s certainly not a surprise to those of us who live near Cartmel and find it hard to resist an evening of cheese, bread and wine. Indeed, many of our regular guests make it the first shop they visit on their Cartmel holiday.
Cartmel Cheeses also supplies Simon Rogan’s restaurants in the village and stock the finest local, national and European cheese.
The cheese is all kept in a purpose built shop where the temperature and humidity are precisely controlled so that you can enjoy cheese at its absolute best.
Some of the cheese stocked in the shop comes from the local artisan cheese dairy, St James Cheese. St James cheese is made 2 miles down the road in Holker and their sheep’s milk cheese is made from raw ewes milk.
Cartmel Cheese shop is located in Unsworth’s Yard in Cartmel. The shop is in the middle of Cartmel Wine Bar and the craft beer brewery, Unsworth’s Yard Brewery. 
All 3 businesses work alongside each other therefore you can enjoy a platter of cheese with beer from the brewery and/or wine from the wine bar. Several dozen tables and chairs under a heated canopy make this yet another great Cartmel food destination.
