Luxury Lake District Cottages are perfect for autumn & winter getaways

Coniston Fells in winter

9th February 2026

As the nights draw in and the weather turns cooler, picture the wonderful scenery that autumn and winter bring to the English Lake District. Golden leaves falling from the trees, heather and bracken clad fell sides, bonfires, fireworks, quintessential country villages festively decorated for Christmas, snow clad mountains and roaring waterfalls and rivers.

Our Luxury Lake District Cottages provide the ideal place to stay so you can experience these wonderful seasonal sights and activities. The Lake District is well known for its stunning vistas in the summer, but as we head into autumn the changing of the leaves and the autumnal light further enhance the beauty of this spectacular landscape.

The Lake District is a walker’s paradise but you don’t have to walk for miles up England’s highest mountain to enjoy the stunning scenery, the vibrant colours on the trees and the fallen leaves can be enjoyed from the valleys too.

Three of our warm and cosy cottages have a roaring log fire where you can snuggle up, dim the lights, open a bottle of wine and relax!

Our cottages are perfect for dog owners. Enjoy scenic walks on the fells, then return to relax together by the log fire.

Autumn and winter are wonderful times to experience the Lake District’s unique traditions and local delicacies. Our luxury cottages are perfectly located so that you can easily visit local markets, villages, and seasonal fairs to enjoy authentic regional food, drink, and warm hospitality.
