Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house.

We thoroughly enjoyed getting away with the family, lots of great walking (Old Man twice)!

The house is lovely, sociable, warm(!) yet still cosy. Beds are so comfy.

A great few days. Thank you – Emma, Rob, Ben, Jess, Ad, Helen with Gracy & Toby the dogs, Didcot

Charcoal House exceeded our expectations in every way which is really appreciated given pictures can often be deceptive and other accommodations have ended up being ‘less rather than more’.

It is so nice to come somewhere with quality furnishings, rather than cheap bare bones.

We’ve had a really lovely break in such a beautiful part of the world and the property has been very much part of the experience.

Thank you and we hope to return in the future – Darren, Stuart & Nellie, Chichester with Nathan & Matilda, Durham

“Fantastic!!”

We’ve had a lovely week at Charcoal House and were really sad to leave.

The location of the property was great! Only a short walk to the Coniston Water and the fells.

Charcoal House was lovely, Clean, warm and inviting and exceeded all our needs, a great place to catch up with family and friends.

We were provided with lots of information on the area walks, places to eat and drink etc from the owner. Can’t wait to book again! Paula

Had a lovely few days here!

The weather was amazing, no rain, blue skies and sun.

The house was very comfortable and spacious for the four of us. Great location.

Would recommend the local butcher and The Bakehouse for bread, pies and doughnuts.

Thank you very much – The Andersons, Nottingham

“A perfect and peaceful retreat”

We have recently returned from a long weekend in Charcoal House. A truly fantastic cottage which has been decorated to the highest standard.

From the warming Aga in the open plan kitchen, to the magnificent wood burner in the upstairs lounge, our family enjoyed the comfort and relaxed atmosphere this beautiful Lake District cottage offered.

Simon’s advice about dog friendly places/pubs to visit and eat at came in very handy – especially our visit to the Black Bull in Coniston with its microbrewery.

Any small issues we had, were dealt with quickly and in a very friendly manner by Simon – who was very approachable and keen to ensure our stay was the best it could be.

I can highly recommend this wonderful place to anyone looking for a ‘touch of class’ to make their holiday very special. You won’t be disappointed. 5 very well deserved stars from a highly impressed family.

Came here in June 2017 for a weekend with family including 82 year-old Mum. So impressed with the house and we had a wonderful weekend with the most perfect weather we had to come back!

We brought friends back with us this time. 12 mile walk yesterday including ‘The Hospice’ which has a spectacular view point.

Today 15 miles to Haverthwaite and back – a full weekend – joyful!

Beautiful, beautiful house!

Arrived on a snowy day to be met by a beautifully warm kitchen and Aga.

A really lovely, tastefully decorated house and great for entertaining old friends from the area.

Unlike everyone else in this book we did no walking but lots of eating, drinking and relaxing.

Thank you for making our stay so pleasurable – Duncan and Sue Roberts, West Sussex with friends from Cheshire, Bucks and Edinburgh
