Morecambe Bay

Misty morning over Morecambe Bay

Morecambe Bay

Cartmel Valley is part of the ‘Lake District Peninsulas’ where the southern tip of Cumbria meets the spectacular Morecambe Bay.

Morecambe Bay remains one of the last wildernesses in England, a sand plain of over 120 square miles that changes twice each day with the ebbing tide that carves the surface into subtly different forms after each tide. It is an ever changing landscape where infinite variations of sky and cloud change the shade of the water, sand and land.

The vast expanse of sand, marshes & stunning estuaries are a great place to explore & a popular place for bird watchers too.

The 1st ‘meet’ in June is followed by an evening live music concert with top artists.

Weavers cottage is THE best cottage in Cartmel village for Cartmel Races with it’s 4 off-road parking spaces and a location outside of the ‘restricted village traffic zone’ on race days.
