Bridgelands Cottage is a lovely 4 star, 18th Century cottage that is furnished and equipped to a very high standard with a great mixture of modern and antique furniture, oak beams, a grandfather clock, and a roaring log fire.

Free Wi-Fi extends throughout the cottage and into the garden too.

This luxury cottage is our most popular cottage and a real favourite with many of our regular guests. ‘Bridgelands’ is situated in a quiet off road location at the top of a cobbled lane, close to the heart of the unspoilt South Lakeland village of Cark in Cartmel. The artisan bakery and 2 village pubs are only a minute’s stroll away.

The stable style front door of the cottage opens up into the wonderful large kitchen and dining area with 2 long breakfast bars, dining table and chairs. This lovely room is further highlighted by 2 lovely window seats overlooking gardens. The fully equipped kitchen has a brand new built in oven, gas hob, separate fridge & freezer, automatic washing machine, dishwasher, microwave with 2nd oven built into it, and all the kitchen utensils and equipment you could possibly want to make your stay a very comfortable one.

The cosy sitting room has 2 high quality leather 3 seater sofas set around the roaring log fire. The French doors look out into the private, enclosed, secluded and south facing garden. The lounge has a lovely stone fireplace, lots of antiques, remote control top of the range Sony Internet “Freeview” LCD TV, DVD, ‘Pure’ iPhone/iPod docking station with CD player and DAB radio. There’s plenty of books too! During the day the sitting room gets lots of sun and at night time it’s a lovely cosy room to relax in front of the roaring log fire.

The cottage has just been refurbished & decorated throughout.

The Sony Smart TV has access to You Tube, Skype, Love Film*, Sony Entertainment Network* (*subscription needed if you don’t have one), all the ‘on demand’ channels including the BBC’s ‘iPlayer’ in full HD and lots more.

The cottage sleeps 5 and upstairs on the 1st floor you will find the single bedroom, newly refurbished and redecorated with stylish and contemporary furnishings. Along the corridor is the newly decorated twin bedroom. Both of these 1st floor bedrooms are quietly located overlooking gardens. The recently fitted, modern bathroom has a bath, powerful shower, wash basin and toilet.

The light  and airy double bedroom is located on the 3rd floor with a galleried entrance, oak beams, plenty of storage space, a wonderful, luxurious leather, king-size sleigh bed and a Bose Wave CD/Radio. Luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen and soft fluffy white towels provided free of charge.

A new, full size travel cot and high chair are also provided, free of charge.

Full (mains) gas central heating is at your control for whenever you want to use it and there is a combi-boiler for instant hot water. Heating, gas, and electric are all included in the price.

Bridgelands Cottage has a lovely south facing, private & secluded, enclosed garden with BBQ and garden furniture including table and chairs (these were added after the photos were taken). Everything you might want from a holiday cottage in the Lake District.

All of our holiday cottages are provided with lots of information on the local area, the Lake District and Cumbria with several books, folders and leaflets containing plenty of walks and our own personal recommendations for places to visit. We also send all of our guests a detailed list of our favourite pubs, restaurants and places to buy great local food giving you some wonderful inside knowledge and a valuable head start.

Cark-in-Cartmel is located in the beautiful Cartmel valley with its lush green fields, quiet leafy lanes, and gentle rolling hills.

The cobbled streets and 12th century priory village of Cartmel lies just 1½ miles to the north and Lake Windermere is a 10 minute drive. Please visit our location page for details on the area.

Bridgelands Cottage is a pet friendly cottage and dog owners are welcome to bring along their dog(s) for a small charge (£20 for 1 dog, £30 for 2)-just select this option on our on-line booking system at the time of booking. Non pet owners can rest assured that we spend this extra money on additional cleaning so that non pet owners would have no idea a dog has stayed at the cottage.

This is a great area for walkers and dog owners with several walks from the doorstep where your dog can enjoy it’s holiday as much as you.

Further details on our beautiful area can be found here.

We had a wonderful time at your cottage and will definitely be back.

The standard was excellent and we loved the retro leather sofa’s. The beds were very comfy too.

Thank you so much for having us – Pauline, Irvine North Ayrshire

“Homely, well equiped and fabulous location”

We stayed at Bridgelands for a week in May and experienced both rain and sunshine.

On arrival the house lights were on which was a nice welcome and there was fresh milk in the fridge.

The kitchen diner is ideal for a larger family such as ourselves and we made us of both the table and the breakfast counter. We also used the high chair and we ate outside a few times.

The house was clean, tidy and smelled fresh and the bathroom was smart, compact but totally manageable. There is a handy part of tiled floor by the front door so you can get wet gear off before going on the carpet.

Sitting room is on the snug side but still fitted us fine for occasional TV watching in the evening. Comfy though and fire if you want to use it.

Bedrooms nice – master bedroom very comfy and relaxing (nicer than my bedroom at home!!)

The village is lovely – there is an artisan bakery which does the most delicious pizzas on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night and they are very reasonable at £5!

The local shop is well stocked with the basics.

Our favourite part was the train station as it was clean, had regular trains even on a Sunday and was a lovely journey into Ulverston which is a must visit town if you like Laurel and Hardy (also has a lovely park and walk up to a monument which you can follow with delicious ice cream). The train station is a 5 minute walk from the house. There is also a small play park in the village.

We didn’t do a lot in the surrounding area as we were using it as a base for the Lake’s but there was a handy folder with lots of info for local walks etc. Owner friendly and helpful and quick with communication – deposit refunded promptly through Pay Pal.

Would certainly return! – Jenn Hodge

An excellent place to visit, it has been our first time here and we will most definitely be returning.

The local bakery is wonderful and full of nice surprises. The Pheasant pub is nice.

Hopefully we will see you again soon and this time we will be with our first born child – Matt & Kerr
