Shamrock Cottage is a delightful 19th Century cottage located in the South Lakeland village of Allithwaite and just 1½ miles from the cobbled streets of Cartmel village with Lake Windermere only a 10 minute drive to the north.

The cottage is a real ‘home from home’ with carefully chosen traditional and contemporary furnishings. There are many thoughtful and luxurious items throughout the cottage that make Shamrock Cottage ideal for couples or for up to 3 people.

Shamrock Cottage is an ideal place for a special, romantic break or a great base for walking and exploring the South Lakes area. The cottage is sumptuously furnished and has the added benefit of a wonderful sun deck with panoramic views overlooking open fields and down to the bay. This is an ideal place to sit and relax, for ‘al fresco’ dining and being south facing it is lovely sun trap too.

The cottage is full of charm and character and is furnished to a very high standard. The lounge has a large window, stable styled door, traditional cottage style wood panelling on one wall, an oak beamed fireplace and a cast iron log burning stove. There are two comfortable settees, remote control multi channel ‘Freeview’ LCD TV, DVD, radio, CD player and plenty of books including some good ones of the local area.

The traditional cottage kitchen has hand made wooden kitchen units, Belfast sink, traditional quarry tiled floor, double oven, 4 ring hob, microwave, brand new full sized fridge freezer, dining table and 2 chairs as well as all the utensils, crockery and cookware you’d expect (and maybe a few more too!).

The kitchen door opens onto a small patio area with steps leading up to the wonderful sun deck area. Here you will find a table for two, 2 chairs, a wooden garden bench and stunning views across open fields to Morecambe Bay. Please contact us regarding an ‘access statement’ if you are not sure about the gradient of the steps to access the sun deck.

The cottage has 2 bedrooms and sleeps up to 3 people. Upstairs, the beautifully furnished, newly decorated and refurbished double bedroom has an antique stripped wooden floor, a lovely Victorian mahogany bed, a satin-wood chest of drawers with large mirror, various antiques and a large wardrobe. This room really is as lovely as it looks!

The single bedroom has a wealth of charm and is also lavishly furnished with a cast iron single bed and other tastefully chosen cottage style furnishings. Luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen and soft fluffy white towels provided free of charge.

A brand new, full size travel cot and high chair are also provided, free of charge.

The newly decorated and refurbished cottage style bathroom has a full sized bath, powerful shower, wash basin and toilet.

Mains gas central heating is at your control for whenever you want to use it and there is a combi-boiler for instant hot water. Heating, gas, and electric are all included in the price.

The cottage is provided with lots of interesting books including walking books and an additional folder with many walks and recommendations of local places of interest too.

Shamrock Cottage is situated in the small, picturesque, unspoilt village of Allithwaite just south of Cartmel and west of Grange-over-Sands. The village has 2 good pubs both serving good food and both being child and dog friendly too. The village also has a post office and convenience store that sells fresh bread and a 5 minute drive to Grange-over-Sands where you will find one of the best bakers and best butchers in the country along with a deli, green grocers and many great local shops too.

The rural train station of Kents Bank is a 5 minute walk away and this is on the Lancaster to Barrow, Lake District Peninsulas line and is one of England’s most scenic railways in England as it snakes its way along the Cumbrian coast. There are plenty of walks from the doorstep from nice easy strolls along the sea front to strenuous fell walking of all distances and complexity.

Dog owners are welcome to bring along their dog(s) with them by prior arrangement and for a small charge. Non pet owners can rest assured that we spend this extra money on additional cleaning so that non pet owners would have no idea a dog has stayed at the cottage.

This is a great area for walkers and dog owners with walks from the doorstep and there are plenty of fields, footpaths, woods and beaches all open to the public to ensure that your dog can run around off the lead.
