Converted from a 19th Century barn by a local craftsman, the cottage has huge thick stone walls, a very large, inglenook fireplace many original features including owl holes (now glassed in), plenty of oak beams and is full of all the modern conveniences you would expect in a luxury Lakeland cottage.

This ‘boutique style’ cottage is full of charm and character and is furnished with a number of antiques and local crafts. The lounge has a large bay window which lets the sunlight flood in, 3 seater settee, 2 matching arm chairs, multi channel (Freeview) TV, DVD, CD player & radio, a few board games stashed away in the sideboard, books galore, and even a chair made out of an old oak barrel. We have just introduced the Grange End Library where guests are invited to swap a paperback book for any of our paperback books. This is especially helpful if you start to read one of our many books and don’t get to finish reading it by the end of your stay. The inglenook fireplace is the focal point of the lounge and logs & coal are provided free of charge during the colder months. There is even a Calor Gas lighting torch to enable you to light the fire without the use of firelighters or newspaper. The perfect way to relax at the end of the day.

The kitchen has a new double oven with a halogen/ceramic hob, a family sized fridge/freezer, automatic washing machine, dishwasher, tumble drier, microwave and everything you’d expect to have in your own luxury cottage and maybe a bit more too. Full central heating is at your control for whenever you want to use it and there is a combi-boiler for instant hot water. Heating, gas, and electric are all included in the price.

The bedrooms sleep up to 6 people. The romantic 4-poster bedroom has another lovely window seat, dressing table and stool, built in cottage style wardrobe and more oak beams! The twin bedded room overlooking the garden and fields also has a dressing table and built in wardrobe and a 3rd bedroom has full sized bunk beds, a few children’s toys, a stair gate, full size travel cot and another built in wardrobe too. The cottage also has a high chair, provided free of charge.

Good quality, luxurious bed linen and towels are provided for up to 6 people free of charge. The modern bathroom is equipped with bath, basin, toilet, and electric shower.

Outside, to the rear, the cottage has its own lovely, private enclosed garden overlooking open fields with a variety of plants, shrubs and wild flowers, a patio area, garden furniture, and barbecue. The cottage also has its own garage for the sole use of guests.

We have been awarded 4 stars by Enjoy England (previously known as Visit Britain). This is an award we have maintained for a number of years now and is not just awarded for facilities and equipment, but for cleanliness, hygiene, and décor too.

The cottage is provided with books and folders containing over 100 walks plus recommendations of some of our personal favourites too.

Dog lovers and pet owners are welcome to bring along their pets with them by prior arrangement and for a small charge. Non pet owners can rest assured that we spend this extra money on additional cleaning to eliminate all possible traces that a dog, dogs or pet has stayed at the cottage. This is such a great area for dog owners with walks from the doorstep and plenty of fields, footpaths, woods and beaches to choose from to ensure that your dog can run around off the lead.
